There are many native species of Goldenrod (Solidago spp.). Goldenrod is easily one of the most misunderstood wild plants, often blamed for the allergies actually caused by the less showy ragweed. Due to its profusion of tiny yellow flowers, it is connected to money and fortune. It is thought that having goldenrod sprout unexpectedly near your door will bring a sudden windfall! It is also said that the plant in flower can be used to dowse for lost objects.
