Natural Curiousities
These items are or contain ethically harvested animal materials (such as bones, feathers, claws, or insect wings) or animal-made product (such as insect comb or bird nest). Ethics of animal products are important to us, but we understand everyone has a different definition of what "ethics" means. These are our guidelines for where we allow animal product to be sourced from:
- Found in nature, where the taking does not severely impact nature
- Products obtained without killing
- Byproducts of the meat industry that would have otherwise gone to waste
- Products obtained by sustainable meat hunting which that particular hunter cannot or will not use. (In the case of animals that only First Nations / Indigenous people can hunt, we do ensure that this is the origin of the hunted material.)
- Products obtained from government-ordained population control hunting
- Farmed or population controlled insects (such as trapped invasive species)
- Products from pets
Many of these products WILL NOT be shipped outside of Canada. Please check the description for warnings of this issue. If you order an item to be shipped outside of Canada which has this warning, we will cancel that item from your order.
