Hand-carved Amethyst Wands

Wands can be used for healing or for magic. In healing, their shape aids in deep pressure massage, rolling massage, acupressure, and reflexology. In “crystal healing,” it is believed that pressing a wand into an area of the body and then spinning it causes the crystal release a beam of energy into that location.

In magic, a wand helps you to direct energy. These wands may be made from wood, carved stone, naturally pointed stone, metal, natural materials like bone, or a combination there of. They can be decorated with any material that feels right to you or left bare. In some traditions, a magic wand should be the length from a practitioners elbow (or, sometimes, inner elbow) to the tip of their middle finger. Modernly, most a somewhat smaller, around the size of the forearm only or the size of a chopstick. Crystal wands tend to be around a handspan in length, but vary widely.

Amethyst is a variety of quartz that appears translucent purple due to natural irradiation and metallic impurities. It has a six-sided prism shape with a point and a glassy lustre. It has no cleavage but has a conchoidal fracture. It is found throughout the world, with high-quality gem-grade stones typically found in Brazil, Siberia, Sri Lanka, and Uruguay. Amethyst is often heat-treated to change its colour and is sometimes called citrine or green amethyst. Amethyst has a long history of use, including as a gemstone, as a symbol of royalty, and as a protection amulet. It is considered the birthstone of February and is believed to increase wealth, calm the mind and spirit, and strengthen relationships.
