Amethyst is a popular stone used to bring peace of mind and clarity of thought. It is the birthstone of February, and was historically thought to be a remedy against drunkenness. It is thought connected to the zodiac energies of Aquarius, Capricorn, Pisces, Sagittarius, and Virgo; the planets of Jupiter, Neptune, and Pluto; to Spring and Imbolc; to the days of Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday; to the element of water; and to the deities Dionysus and Venus. It is thought to ease fear, to help connect to gratitude, to help connect to one's inner magic, to help with anger issues, to help calm, to help with communication, and to increase awareness.
We consider this piece a unique specimen due to the fact that it has very little host material and none of the cement that is often used to help mine amethyst geodes and clusters without them breaking apart. It has some cacoxenite, chlorite, and goethite inclusions as well as quartzite and calcite material on bottom. The piece weighs approximately 75 grams. It measures approximately 7 cm across its longest dimension.
