Black & Gold Sobek

Sobek is an important ancient Egyptian deity, often depicted as a crocodile or a human with a crocodile head. Revered for his aggressive and protective nature, he was also associated with healing and is known for his role in the Osiris myth. Crocodiles were mummified as offerings to him and were seen as living incarnations of Sobek. The Book of the Faiyum recounts Sobek's daily journey with the sun and his role in creation. This popular text was widely distributed in Ptolemaic and Roman Egypt, showcasing Sobek's widespread influence.
