January & February Birthstones
This article originally appeared in our Jan/Feb edition of Witch, What?, a newsletter for witches of all experience levels which you can pick up in person at our stores or receive for free with an online order. It includes information like that month's full moon, any Wheel of the Year holidays coming up, what is in bloom that month, and helpful articles like this one! These articles will not appear on our blog until the following month, so if you want to get them right away, make sure to drop by our booth at the 400 Market! There have been a couple small edits from the original version of the article.
January’s birthstone is the garnet, which derives its name from the pomegranate and has strong connections to blood and to love. Coincidentally, we have just ordered some lovely Ant Hill Garnets from Arizona, which are tiny garnets pushed out of the soil by ants when they build their tunnels. At the time of writing (Jan 31), they have not yet arrived, so keep your eyes peeled to our socials!
February’s birthstone is the amethyst, which brings peace, calm, and clarity of mind. It is a wonderful stone for meditation and for healing trauma. For this reason, it is one of the most popular stones in any crystal store. It’s also the provincial stone of Ontario! You can read all about Amethyst in detail here!
