Hibiscus is a common ingredient in teas for its tart, fruity flavour and beautiful red colour. Hibiscus is associated with love and well-compliments rose in spells or can even function as a substitute to the more expensive ingredient. (The flavor is not remotely the same, however, and the color is much stronger, if either of those things matter for your purposes.) It actually has a similar flavor and color as pomegranate, and the two have many overlapping associations. Like pomegranate, hibiscus is highly nutritive and thus has associations with health and restoration.
Where as most florals are delicate and should be steeped at green tea temperatures of no more than 75C, hibiscus is sturdier and should be brewed at black tea temperatures of just below boiling.
